Piedmont Construction Group Celebrates 30 Years of Building Georgia’s Communities

MACON, Ga. - Piedmont Construction Group (PCG), a respected general contracting and construction management firm headquartered in Macon, is celebrating its 30th anniversary—marking three decades of craftsmanship, collaboration, and community impact across Georgia and the Southeast.
Founded in March 1995 by brothers G. Scott Thompson and David Thompson, sons of an architect, Piedmont Construction Group began with a single project: the Exhibit Arena at the Georgia National Fairgrounds, commissioned by the Georgia State Financing & Investment Commission, a project that set the foundation for the firm’s long-standing partnership with public institutions across the state. What started as a modest operation has grown into a multi-office construction firm known for delivering complex, high-profile projects while maintaining a client-first, relationship-driven culture.
“As one of the founders of PCG, I had a vision of creating a company where we were viewed as a true partner by our clients and architects—focused on long-term relationships rather than short-term gain,” said Scott Thompson, Co-Founder of Piedmont Construction Group. “From the very beginning, our goal was to solve difficult challenges collaboratively and to build something lasting in the community we call home. Macon was the natural place to grow our company, and those relationships became the foundation for PCG’s statewide success.”
Over the past 30 years, Piedmont Construction Group has played a vital role in shaping Georgia’s built environment, delivering landmark developments across multiple sectors. Notable projects include the Atrium Health Amphitheater, Mercer Lofts (Buildings I–V), Lofts at Bass, and the Madison Reynoldstown Affordable Housing Development in Atlanta. PCG is also proud to have partnered with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, delivering critical public safety facilities, including the GBI Headquarters, Morgue & Medical Examiner’s Annex Building, further demonstrating the firm’s trusted role in serving Georgia’s state agencies.
In 2000, David Moore joined the firm as President, bringing decades of construction leadership and strategic vision. Today, the executive leadership team also includes trusted partners Adam Berkstresser, Dallas Smith, Erica Royals, and Jeff Glazer, who continue to guide the firm’s growth, innovation, and community investment.
“Our people and our relationships have always been the heart of this company,” said Moore. “We are grateful for the clients, partners, and employees who have trusted PCG for the past 30 years—and we are excited to continue building meaningful projects that strengthen our communities.”
As Piedmont Construction Group celebrates this milestone, the firm looks ahead with the same founding principles that shaped its first project—integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to building lasting partnerships and better communities.
